G&M has long established relationships with distillery
owners throughout the country. Oak casks are sent to
the majority of Scotland’s working distilleries to be
filled with ‘new-make’ spirit, which then mature for
many years at the distillery of origin or in bonded
warehouses in Elgin. The oak casks are carefully
stowed and regularly checked until they finally achieve
our highest quality standards. It’s a patient business,
some casks reach over 70 years of age and some have
outlived the distillery that produced them.
Glenlivet 1940 is the latest addition to the
“Generations” range. Distilled on 3rd February 1940,
this unique and exceptionally rare Single Malt Scotch
Whisky is bottled at natural cask strength (45.9%),
having been patiently matured for 70 years in a First
Fill Sherry Butt.
