This Zinfandel was grown near the town of Windsor in the Russian River AVA. The vines are roughly 90 years old, unirrigated for many years, head trained, spur pruned in the manner of earlier times and low yielding. The grapes were hand harvested late in the season on October 9. A long fermentation over a 13 day period on the skins followed by pressing, if finished primary in tank late in the year. Aging for 21 months in French and American oak barrels has produced a mellow yet fruity Zinfandel with abundant blackberry, spice, vanilla and peppercorn aromas and flavors true to its origins. Enjoy over the next decade or more.
